Custom finished pair of vintage Chateau d'Ax Spa French Louis XV style fauteuil chairs in a trio of luscious oyster and navy linen. Hand painted using authentic old world stains, French and Italian milk paints, glazes and waxes. Provincial grey and blue milk paints were layered on top of the original wood stain and a matte neutral chalk paint base. The pair were then aged and protected with varnish, custom colored glazes, and light and dark and custom waxes. Designer fabrics complement and play off the provincial wood finish. A subtle oyster-toned linen animal print was placed in the back picture window, while an oyster, blue, green and red linen Asian motif on the front, and a rich solid navy linen on the seat itself. Double welting cord completes the look. Although delicate in line, these lovely fauteuil chairs are generous in size and study to sit upon, and would be pleasing in a sitting room, library, living room, reading nook, boudoir, or bedroom. Hello! I'm a Mid-West girl at heart hailing from Chicago and now living in St. Louis. Although I live in the middle of the country, career and family interests have allowed me to travel extensively, and even live abroad over the past 40 years. My perfect day would be discovering an unwanted piece, talking with the owner or researching the history of it, connecting with my notes or an expert on the use/era/style, and planning or executing the perfect finish to bring it back to relevance. Each item I personally select is given my full attention and make take some time to come to market. It is cleaned, checked and repaired, it's history studied, and a finish chosen and applied. Top quality products and time-honored restorative processes are used on each piece: only real milk paints, chalk paints, and low-or-no-VOC products are used, many of which follow traditional application.
