Constructed from an antique carved mohagany headboard with a hand-built storage compartment and seat attached, this stunning Old World-style bench would be a gorgeous statement piece in practically any room in your home. The open armless design enables its use as bench seating in a breakfast nook or with a dining table. The carved vine detail on the headboard is replicated on the storage compartment facades. The unique, distressed finish is created with lime paint and antiquing wax, giving it an old world parchment look. French butterfly ephemera paper is decoupaged in the center of the bench back and aged with a craqueluere finish. The bench seat is made of a thick oak stair tread with a comfortable bull nose edge, sealed with espresso stain. The seat opens on a long piano hinge with a bench support, revealing a storage compartment to hide away your belongings. The tapered legs are tipped with leveling feet.
