This dresser was originally a radio cabinet most likely from the early 1900's and eventually was transformed into a dresser by a master carpenter. When it came into my hands it had a shiny slick cherry finish and I gave her a pretty faux marble top sealed and waxed for protection and her body was chalk painted and then layers of milk paint in grays with the stencil in a thick white and aged to simulate an older period and interest. She has new glass hardware and new gray drawer liners.

I love the traditional look of the dark woods of mahogany, walnut and cherry and along with that some gold or silver leaf and plenty of crystal drop embellishments on lamps and sconces, but sometimes furniture needs a little rescuing and restoring! This is where my love of creating furniture art has come to play and my favorite is Scandinavian finishes in neutral palettes of whites, beiges, blues and gray. You may see on my site a mix of antique wood and painted furniture and I love a room that balances both.
