She would be the perfect storage companion in any room. … Eleanor: Colorful Chest. Solid maple with new ceramic knobs and dovetail drawers. Refinished in milk paint and wax. An aged design to be the conversation piece in any room. dim; 26”W x 15.5”D x 42.25”H. … Eleanor: Eleanor Roosevelt was an American political figure, diplomat, and activist. Redefining the role of the first lady from 1933 to 1945, she dramatically changed the role of the first lady. Not content to stay in the background, Eleanor gave press conferences and advocated for human rights, children's causes, and women's issues while working on behalf of the League of Women Voters. She also focused on helping the country's poor, stood against racial discrimination, and traveled abroad during World War II to visit U.S. troops. Eleanor raised five children during her time in the White House while being a champion for social justice. After her husband's death, she was a delegate to the United Nations and continued to advocate for a wide range of human rights issues. Along with penning her own newspaper column, "My Day," Eleanor wrote several books about her life and experiences, including "This Is My Story (1937)", "This I Remember (1949)", "On My Own (1958)" and "Autobiography (1961)". Eleanor remained active in Democratic causes and was a prolific writer until her death at age 78. [Born: October 11, 1884 – Died: November 7, 1962]
