Details

An Italian walnut ebonized and parcel gilt serpentine fronted sideboard with carved giltwood and composition terminals. The molded top with segmented burl walnut veneers sits above three drawers flanked by a pair of doors and with a molded apron, on foliate scroll cabriole legs ending in scroll feet. This sideboard buffet would originally have formed part of a fashionable suite of matching dining room furniture. The carved gilt details may also include composition that has the appearance of carved wood. It provided an economic process for the manufacturer to provide consistent perfect decorative details at economic costs. It is loosely inspired in style by eighteenth century furniture and appears to be of European Italian manufacture. Much love, time and effort were used to restore and refinish this stately piece. Products used in the refinishing were Amy Howard One Step Paint in Black, Light wax, Dark wax, Copper wax, and gold wax. There are even some wormholes which adds to the beautiful history of this piece.

About Seller

I am an artist with a love for refinishing and redesigning furniture and decorative pieces. Sometimes that takes me into Old World finishes, into Traditional, Boho or Contemporary, and others. It is therapeutic giving something new life. When refinishing furniture, remaining disciplined is the goal, but sometimes the piece just takes me where it wants to go. I'm a proud Texan born and raised, and have a love of historical things and art. When not working, I study or play with my three dogs.
